Tools: Calendar

User

Once a calendar account is connected, the assistant can read your calendars and answer questions in chat — “What’s on this week?”, “Who’s in my 3 pm meeting?”, “Am I free Thursday at 3 pm?”. These tools appear only once an account is connected → Connect a calendar.

ToolPurposeTypeAvailable

Check free/busy (calendar_free_busy)Free/busy blocks across a window (without event details) for availability checks. Aggregated across all calendars when no calendarIds are given, or restricted to specific calendarIds.Readwhen connected
  • “What’s on this week?”
  • “Who’s in my 3 pm meeting?”
  • “Am I free Thursday at 3 pm?”
  • “Compare my work and my personal calendar for next week.”
  • Provider-transparent: the assistant always targets a calendarId, never “CalDAV” or “Microsoft”. Multiple accounts work at the same time; the model chooses based on the calendar list.
  • Current date: chat and agent prompts are grounded in the current date and time, so relative phrases like “this week” or “Thursday” resolve correctly.
  • Transparency: calendar calls appear in the activity / transparency sidebar with their source (which calendar) — like any other tool call.
  • PII exemption (deliberate): calendar reads run PII-exempt — titles, attendees and locations reach the model unmasked (the same deliberate decision as for workspace-folder reads). Otherwise answers like “Who’s in my 3 pm meeting?” would be useless.
  • Licence (Pro/Site): The calendar tools (Microsoft 365 / CalDAV) are available in Pro and Site (not Free). → License & edition model
  • Read-only — no creating, editing or deleting of events, no invitations or replies.
  • No background sync, no caching — every query is a live, on-demand request.
  • Google Calendar is not supported yet.

Distinction: These are the assistant’s built-in calendar tools. Connecting, testing and disconnecting an account is covered in a dedicated article → Connect a calendar.
