Single workstation with Docker (local Qdrant + Presidio)
AllThis variant extends the single workstation with local Docker services: Qdrant for high-quality semantic search and Presidio for PII detection. Everything stays on one machine, but with full search and data protection functionality.
For whom
Section titled “For whom”Advanced individual users with Docker knowledge who want better match quality (compared to BM25) and local pseudonymization without running a server.
Components
Section titled “Components”- Desktop app (local SQLite) as in the minimal single workstation.
- Qdrant as a local Docker container (vector search, gRPC). Once the app detects the endpoint, it uses Qdrant instead of BM25. → Setting up Qdrant
- Presidio as a local Docker container (PII detection over HTTP). → Setting up Presidio
Steps (high level)
Section titled “Steps (high level)”- Set up the single workstation as in IS-02.
- Start the Qdrant and Presidio containers locally (Qdrant compose · Presidio compose).
- Enter the endpoints in the settings (search backend and Presidio endpoint) and test the connection. → Environment variables & appsettings
Prerequisites & limits
Section titled “Prerequisites & limits”- Docker on the machine; more RAM than the minimal single workstation. Details: System requirements
- DIY variant: you set up the containers and endpoints yourself. Ready-made, best-practice Compose setups are available: Self-host Qdrant and Self-host Presidio. If you want a fully orchestrated multi-component stack, the web stack (API self-hosted) is the better choice.
- Still a single workstation: no multi-user, scheduled agents only while the app is open.
