Set up the IONOS AI Model Hub

The IONOS AI Model Hub is a German provider with an OpenAI-compatible API and data processing in Germany — an obvious candidate when data location is the priority. Whether it fits your situation is the job of the provider selection guide; this page only covers the setup.

Step 1 — get an auth token from IONOS

The key for the AI Model Hub is an IONOS Cloud auth token, which you create in the Data Center Designer (DCD):

1. Sign in to the DCD → Management → Token Manager.
2. Choose a time to live (TTL) (validity of 1 hour up to 365 days).
3. Click Generate Token and copy the token immediately — it is not shown again afterwards and cannot be recovered.

TTL pitfall: the token expires

IONOS tokens are JWTs with an expiry date. If you pick a short TTL, the stored key stops working without warning once it lapses. For ongoing use choose a long TTL (up to 365 days) and note the expiry date so you can renew in time.

Step 2 — store it in CompanyWizard

IONOS ships as its own card in the model catalog — fastest via Quick add:

1. Administration → Models → Quick add, pick the IONOS card.
2. Enter the auth token as the key and Test connection.
3. Apply the models recommended per modality.

The OpenAI-compatible endpoint (https://openai.inference.de-txl.ionos.com/v1, data center in Germany) is preset by the IONOS provider type — you do not need to enter a custom base URL.
