Get documents from SharePoint
UserYou bring documents from SharePoint and OneDrive into the knowledge base via the Import page. You sign in to Microsoft once for this — after that CompanyWizard stops asking.
Prerequisite
Section titled “Prerequisite”Your administrators must have set up the Microsoft connection. If the SharePoint tab is missing from the Import page, or CompanyWizard reports “SharePoint not configured”, that has not happened yet — talk to your administrators. → Set up the Microsoft/SharePoint connection
Step by step
Section titled “Step by step”- Open Import and choose the “SharePoint” tab.
- Click “Pick from SharePoint”.
- The first time, you sign in to Microsoft. How that looks depends on how CompanyWizard is run at your site:
- In the browser: the page moves over to Microsoft. Sign in with your usual work account and confirm the consent. You then land back on the Import page — open the import dialog again, choose the “SharePoint” tab once more and click “Pick from SharePoint” again.
- In the desktop application: the sign-in opens in your system browser. CompanyWizard then confirms that you are signed in and asks you to click “Pick from SharePoint” again — that second click opens the file picker.
- In the picker, select the files you want and confirm.
- The files are imported and then follow the same path as any other import: Process → Review → Publish. → Import and publish a document
On every subsequent occasion step 3 falls away. In the browser the sign-in belongs to your account, not to this device: it still holds when you later work on another computer or in another browser. In the desktop application it holds for that device.
Why sign in to Microsoft at all?
Section titled “Why sign in to Microsoft at all?”Because CompanyWizard holds no permissions of its own in SharePoint. The application requests your documents on your behalf — and for that, Microsoft needs to know who you are.
Two things people often ask about:
- Only Microsoft ever sees your password. You enter it on the Microsoft sign-in page, not in CompanyWizard. The application never receives it and stores it nowhere.
- CompanyWizard only receives a time-limited pass (a “token”) issued in your name — and one that can only read. Nothing is changed, written or deleted.
- Where that pass is kept depends on how the application runs. In the browser the server keeps it — encrypted and separately per user; that is why one sign-in covers all your devices. In the desktop application it stays on the device itself.

What you see afterwards — and what you do not
Section titled “What you see afterwards — and what you do not”You see exactly what you may already see in SharePoint. No more and no less.
That has two practical consequences:
- A colleague may see different folders in the same picker than you do. That is not a fault; it reflects your respective SharePoint permissions.
- If a site you expected is missing, it is down to your permissions in SharePoint — not to CompanyWizard. Whoever administers the site is responsible.
If it does not work
Section titled “If it does not work”| What you see | What to do |
|---|---|
| ”SharePoint not configured.” | The connection is still missing — talk to your administrators. |
| ”SharePoint import is currently unavailable.” | Usually an expired Microsoft connection. Connect again; if it persists, talk to your administrators. |
| ”Sign-in was cancelled or timed out.” | The sign-in was not carried through — nothing has been changed. Click “Pick from SharePoint” once more. |
| The Import page looks empty after returning from Microsoft | Not a fault: the import dialog closes when the page moves away. Open it again, choose the “SharePoint” tab and click once more. |
| The selected files are missing after import | Items without a download link (e.g. shortcuts or OneNote sections) are skipped. |
