Import/export of system configuration
AdminIn the System settings admin tab, the settings can be exported and re-imported as a JSON file (buttons at the top of the tab). This is useful for backing up a configuration, transferring it between environments, or preparing a second instance. The import first shows a preview of the included sections.
What is included
Section titled “What is included”The export (system-settings-export-<date>.json) covers the System settings sections:
- SMTP (email sending/OTP)
- Presidio (PII detection)
- Qdrant (vector database)
- Embeddings (embedding provider)
- Web search
- Export template (Word document export)
What is not included
Section titled “What is not included”Deliberately not part of this export: model providers, MCP servers, Skills, system prompts, and other managed objects (users, vaults, mailboxes). For these there are other ways:
- Full, encrypted backup of the entire data set (desktop, Backup tab). → Backup & restore
- Config sync from the peer server (model providers, MCP servers, system prompts, Skills) in desktop client mode. → Connections / peer sync
Limits & notes
Section titled “Limits & notes”- Requires the Administrator role; available in web and desktop mode.
- The export is plaintext JSON. Sensitive values (e.g. keys) do not belong in unencrypted storage — for confidential migrations use the encrypted Backup.
